It’s really hard to look for a job nowadays especially now that we have economic problems. When I was searching for a job way back 2004, I preferred walk in application. There’s an export processing zone near our town and I used to go there almost everyday. Later on I’ve discovered that checking classified listings is more productive. Either with newspaper or online, you can send your resume to as many companies as you want. For me, I prefer online application more than examining newspaper ads. I already have my resume ready on my desktop and wola! Send it in just a click of a mouse.

I am fond of elegant and prestigious things such as figurines, pendants, miniature things and many more. I like giving those things (if I can just afford it LOL) to my loved ones to make them happy. Giving precious things to our loved ones is a way of showing how much we love them. Last year, I bought my sister and girlfriend bracelets made out of beads. Of course they were so happy with that gift (knowing girls, they love accessories.

Last month as I was browsing the web, I found out some things about egg Faberge. I was amazed when I found out that egg Faberge is not only a decoration of house ornament per se but a historic thing came from a Russian family. And became more amazed when I saw many kinds of egg Faberge and to my amazement, I wanted to by one. However, I got dizzy when I learned that the prize of it is around $18 million whew! Good thing there are egg Faberge that are really manufactured for sale and I will buy faberge from the vendor that I saw on the web.

My sister’s 25^th birthday will be on January 20. It’s far though, but we have to prepare starting this month because 25^th year in this Earth is an important year to celebrate; it is a silver year. Yes, and it has been a tradition in this country to celebrate 25^th year grandly. We celebrate our 25^th (silver) birthday only once so we have to give our best to celebrate our birthday. The popular birthday foods here are spaghetti, cake, ice cream and pansit. Of course, the most special of all foods is lechon (roasted pork). Whew! I think we have to save money now so that we can afford to buy the necessary things on her birthday. Of course, when you host a birthday party, you have to distribute giveaways to the visitors. We have the longest Christmas season in the Philippines; it starts from September up to the first week of January (Three Kings). Gift giving and exchange gifts have been a tradition in our country during Christmas day. During this season there are also may trade fairs where we can buy different kinds of items such as clothes, gadgets, kitchen and house utensils, house ornaments, electrical things and many more. We can see trade fairs in many parts of the country especially in Metro Manila. Night markets also sprout for the nocturnal people and last minute shoppers (in Christmas Eve). Last year, my sister went to night market to shop for Christmas gifts but she said that it’s more expensive. I prefer to shop during the day haha!

Last year I went to the trade fair in the day and there, I saw faberge egg for sale. That time, I was not aware that Faberge eggs are prestigious things that are fun to keep. I hope this year will have Faberge eggs again haha!

When it comes to presents, I prefer giving necklaces. I choose to give necklace because that thing can last for a lifetime. The fact that the person whom you give the necklace likes it, it means that he/she may remember you as long as he/wears that necklace. I don’t say that bracelets and rings are not precious and beautiful ones. I just like necklaces because we can change their pendants. There are different kinds of pendants available in the market and the most common one is the cross. Several known pendants are diamonds, opal, sapphire, clock, pearl and emerald. Having a Car is Cool

I wanted to have a car. Used one or new one is fine with me as long as it is easy to use. I have to start saving money now to buy a car in five years; it is my target timeframe. I’m not getting any younger and now is the time for me to enjoy life to its peak. In the next five years, I will I will have my own family and rising up kids is something that we have to focus on. Today, my two most important goals are to have my own house and a car. Based on my survey, we can find a car that is cheaper than house so why not buy one? When it comes to brand, I prefer Mitsubishi Evo. Mitsubishi is known to its strength, reliability and competitiveness. It is a Japanese brand and we know that Japan is popular for manufacturing vehicles and gadgets with high quality. Wohoo! I’m excited to have a car!

Second Semester is Coming

The second semester for this school year is coming and since I am a graduate student, I have to struggle especially when it comes to paying the tuition fee. Supposed to be this is my last semester in our university because I am now a graduating student. Being a graduating student is not easy because I have so many things to do. I have to do my thesis as a requirement to graduate and some other assignments that I have to complete. This second half of the year would be a burden for me because of that. Well, pray for me guys. Also, paying the tuition fee amount is not easy for me because I have to borrow money from my relatives and friends. But since their pockets are empty now, I have to think of another source of finance. I have thought of applying for a loan since I don’t have bad credit anymore. Acquiring a Loan For Bad Credit isn’t a problem nowadays because there are some financial institutions that grant it. God thing there are institutions like those who have compassion to people. Well guys, I have to make a research prior to the semester so that my work would be minimized when the semester comes.

Spending Break time In the Pantry

My officemates and I like to spend coffee break in the company pantry. I have eleven friends in our company and coffee break in the pantry is our bonding time. Our pantry is just small; there is a long table and eight chairs inside, kitchen sink, microwave oven, toaster, and water dispenser. We have been in the training together for three months. After the training period, for us not to lose our unity and friendship, we regularly meet in the pantry. For us, that is the nicest place in our big office. When I was about to get water one morning, I noticed that the floor is wet and the sink is clogged. The water was pouring in the sink causing the floor to be slippery. I checked the pipe underneath the sink and I found out that the plumbing was poorly done. My father is a plumber that’s why I have little knowledge with plumbing. Starting to be Physically Active

I’m not a physically active person but I try to exercise even for short times. I work in an office in Makati City and I sit down the whole day. Sitting down the whole day is not a good practice because many diseases are associated to it; one of them is blood clot. Recently in a report, a boy in the United States died caused by blood clot blocked the veins of his brain; that was because of his bad practice of playing computer games the whole day every day. Physical activity is important to have a healthier life. I’m thinking of going to the gym every weekend and eating a balanced diet. I also think of buying equipment such as treadmill, barbell and needak rebounder. It’s better to have those equipment at home just in case you are not able to go to the gym. I heard from the radio that we have to exercise as early as childhood so that when we get old, we would be stronger.

Last time, I saw needak rebounders in the more and they are affordable. I think I have to save money to buy that first before any other equipment. It’s better to invest for our health because when we get sick, we will suffer with the hospital expenses.

My Sister as a Mountain Climber

My sister Uching and her boyfriend are mountain climbers. They started exploring each mountain in the Philippines two years ago. Now, they already climbed several mountains. Their next target is Mt. Pulag, the third highest mountain in the Philippines. Doing that kind of activity doesn’t just keep her physically fit but also mentally healthy. It is important that we have activities that could bring us joy and happiness. Uching and her boyfriend always plan a mountain climbing activity as long as they have free time. Recently, they have attended awarding ceremony for mountain climbers organized by some proud individuals (they are also mountain climbers). To be a mountain climber is not easy for my sister because she is vain when it comes to her body.

Last year I gave her a set of different soaps as a gift for her birthday. Also, I noticed that she likes body lotions. I teach my younger cousins in doing their homework when I have free time. Some of them are in elementary and some are in high school. They often complain when their teachers give them too many projects; they say that they don’t have enough time to watch TV or play computer games anymore. I just tell them that I was like them before, everybody who studies in school experience the same when it comes to dealing with school projects. Singing is my passion so I always sing at home if I have time. I also love watching concerts either online or live. I like listening to the singers with their actual singing voices rather than a recorded one. Well, just to watch concert whenever I’d want to, I download them and put in a folder on the desktop of my computer. So far I have concerts of Elton John, Westlife, Boyzone, The Beatles, The Beegees, and many Filipino singers. I connect my loudspeaker to my laptop just to listen to my concert files. My parents also enjoy most of the concerts. However, one time I had a problem accessing my concert files because they were corrupted. I didn’t remember anything I did to the files but they were really not working; it was so disappointing! Until I remember what my friend did when his files got corrupted, he did a dll download the dll4free application. Wow just after a few I can access the files again and enjoy the concert.

I was hired to my new job as a technical writer last February. I felt extremely happy because after one whole year of job finding to make a career shift, finally I got this job. One of the prerequisites for a new employment is medical exam. I had my medical exam in a medium-sized clinic here in Makati. I can say that the technicians there are excellent because of the better treatment that I experienced. There, I had x-ray, urinalysis, fecalysis, physical exam and Complete Blood Count. I am afraid of blood (hemophobic), even on my own so the technician there gently told me not to be like that. Getting a small amount of my blood through syringe is just like an antbite. Meanwhile, the technician (a middle-aged lady) in x-ray room was very humorous and friendly. I really had funtime with them when I had my medical exam, they are wonderful people. Because of that, I thought of studying in a school like phlebotomy schools california where you can get phlebotomy certification california. Because of the great treatment that I experienced in that clinic, I will recommend it to my friends and relatives.

I plan to be a vegetarian after two years. I know that I have to make big adjustments to be a vegetarian; I have to resist the temptations of eating delicious meat dishes. In this age of mine, I will eat all meat dishes that I like because I will not be able to eat those anymore when I will be a vegan.

My cousin works as a computer programmer in a top American company based in the Philippines. The death of press secretary Serge Remonde

I felt sad when I read about the sudden death of Press Secretary Serge Remonde. I just found the breaking news when I was browsing on Yahoo homepage yesterday, less than 1 hour after his death. I was shocked because I used to see him on the evening news delivering speeches, answering questions, etc., and now, he is dead. He was just interviewed by Vic de Leon Lima and Karen Davila two weeks ago. Vic Lima commented that the press secretary was very 'cool' in answering questions about the failures and alleged issues concerning the current administration.
I am sure many people especially the anti-administration used to get mad at Serge Remonde but I think he just did his job to defend the president. His sudden death brought sorrow to his family, friends, relatives, subordinates, many politicians and many Filipinos who loved him. I don't know him personally but I am sure that he was a good person because he served the nation to his grave.

Malacanang Press Secretary Serge Remonde found unconcious inside the bathroom. Doctors at the Makati Medical Center declared him dead at 11:51 a.m.. He suffered from a major heart attack this Tuesday morning. The press secretary reportedly had intestinal flu last week.
I am expressing my condolences to the family of the late press secretary.

Malacanang admitted yesterday that charter change is still President Arroyo's priority. Is that certainly the reason why she still wants to run as a congresswoman in Pampanga? Well, let's see. It is obvious that Arroyo still wants to be in power. She can easily do her actions of ammending the 1987 constitution if she will be in the congress. Indeed, she still has strong influence in the lower house. I am convinced that she is really eyeing to be the house speaker so that she can be the prime minister if our country's government form will be changed to parliamentary.

They say that we can achieve progress if the Philippines will shift from presidential to parliamentary system like Japan, Malaysia, Singapore etc. Well, I strongly disagree, Japan is Japan, Singapore is Singapore but the Philippines is the Philippines. The people sitting in power in those countries have high moral, not corrupt and they know how to handle their countries well. They do not have greed of power unlike many Filipino politicians nowadays. In these times we need to have some people like Nelson Mandela, Cory Aquino, Ronald Reagan, etc. to govern our nation. I don't think that the problem is on the form of government but on the people sitting in power. We have to remove much of them by choosing the right candidates on the coming 2010 national elections.

Bayani Fernando and Dick Gordon filed certificates of candidacy yesterday in COMELEC Intramuros for presidential and vice presidential bid. Why not?
Alam natin na parehong naging magagaling na alkalde sina Fernando at Gordon sa kani kanilang nasasakupan noong kanilang kapanahunan, si Fernando sa Marikina at si Gordon naman sa Olongapo. Parehong magaling at matinik ang dalawang alkaldeng ito.
Marikina is one of the best and most disciplined city in the Philippines as well as Olongapo. I am not campaigning for the two of them but I am just being fair. The transformation of those two Philippine cities are obvious at bihira lamang ang nakagagawa ng ganoon.
However, the competition for the presidential and vice presidential bid is viewed as stiff. Kaylangan muna nilang talunin ang mga popular na kandidato ng iba't ibang partido tulad nina Noynoy Aquino, Manny Villar, Gilbert Teodoro, atbp sa pagkapangulo. Malakas din ang mga kandidato sa pagka vice president tulad nina Loren Legarda, Mar Roxas at Edu Manzano.

Arroyo is eyeing for congress

It is hard to believe that President Arroyo wants to have a seat in the lower house while she already became a senator and now a president. I wonder is she has hidden agenda for her political ambition because it is quite seldom for a head of state to aspire for a lower position, like in the congress. Her real plan was revealed yesterday during her interview over the government-run Radyo ng Bayan.

Many eyebrows raised with Arroyo's revelation. Former ambassador Ernesto Maceda, UNO spokesman, said that if she is sincere in continuously serving the Filipino people, she should seek a Senate seat.

Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño said that Mrs. Arroyo is so obsessed with power because after occupying the presidency for 9 years, she is still aspiring for a lower position with her two sons and two in laws.

Meanwhile, Former President Joseph Estrada said that Mrs. Arroyo must step down after she files her COC for Congress.

Yesterday morning, Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza, together with their families and close friends, filed their certificate of candidacy before the COMELEC. The two are running as independent candidates for senator. They earlier refused to be the guest candidates to Nacionalista Party when it it forged a partnership with the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan of the Marcoses and included Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in its senatorial slate. Ocampo and Maza are known critique of the Marcos Regime.

Sen Loren Legarda: 'I cast my lot with Manny Villar'

Senator Loren Legarda called herself "Villar's other half" as she announced Tuesday that she will vie for the country's second highest position.

“We believe we can make a difference in the lives of Filipinos. That is why today, in declaring my intention to vie for vice presidency in May 2010, I offer myself to the Filipino people as other half to the tandem that seeks a new beginning for the Filipino nation,” Legarda said.

“In this afternoon, on this glorious afternoon, I cast my lot with Manny Villar.
I believe our partnership will ensure a new beginning for all the Filipino people,” she added.

“I cite all these…only to underscore the fact that Manny Villar and I have worked hard to be where we are now. Manny and l have experienced the same hardships in life,” said Legarda.

If we remember, Sen Legarda ran for vice presidency in 2004 elections but lost to now Vice-President Noli de Castro.

Pulse Asia Survey: Noynoy Aquino topped

According to the Pulse Asia survey released yesterday, Senator Noynoy Aquino is the main favorite for the next year's presidential elections. He got 44 percent while Nacionalista candidate Sen. Manny Villar is quite distant with 19 percent. Sen. Francis Escudero was next with 13 percent followed by former President Joseph Estrada who obtained 11 percent. Administration candidate Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro only got 2 percent.

Hillary Clinton visits the Philippines, announces additional $5.2-M US disaster aid to RP

The United States government will give an additional $5.2 million in disaster relief and recovery assistance to the Philippines, announced on Thursday.

Clinton made the announcement after her visit to the Malanday National High School in Marikina City, a Metro Manila City that worst hit by floods brought by Typhoon Ondoy. The US government already released $14 million for rescue and relief aid and already gave to the Philippine government. The State secretary said that the $5.2 million is an additional fund.
Clinton said in a speech in Malacañang, “I was saddened as so many here (were affected by) the recent storms and flooding. I want to convey the sympathy of the Obama administration and the US to the Philippines. You have shown great resolve in these great calamities,"

Is the administration desperate to choose for the VP to tandem with their presidential bet Gilberto Teodoro? Lakas-Kampi-CMD party president Eduardo Ermita has confirmed reports that Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., television host Edu Manzano, Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano, and Senator Loren Legarda, are among those being considered as the vice presidential bet of their party.
However, Revilla said that his ailing father former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr. discouraged him to run for the second highest position in the land. Meanwhile, actor Edu Manzano whom just resigned from Optical Media Board last August is still undecided. The chances of Teodoro pairing up with Duranon are unclear. But how about Loren Legarda? Are they ready to welcome back their prodigal daughter?

Bad day! I was shocked when I learned from the news that 75 people were dead and missing due to typhoon “Ondoy” that struck the Philippines last Saturday, September 26. It was a good thing on my part that I was in Cavite when the typhoon was passing over Central and Southern Luzon. Actually I was a bit worried earlier that morning because I was waiting for my girlfriend in Baclaran for we would spend our weekend in Cavite. I thought that we might be stranded in Baclaran because the lash of the wind and the rainfall were getting stronger. Thank God because she arrived at 10:20 AM and we left Baclaran at 10:30.

After the storm, I immediately turned the TV on, I switched to ABS-CBN news coverage and they showed the severely affected areas. I felt numb with grief when I saw the bodies that were rescued by Philippine Army and other rescue teams. Even rich people residing in exclusive subdivisions were also affected, no food, no water to drink (reminded me of the rime of the ancient mariner " Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink"), no nothing! Then I realized that either old or young, rich or poor, truly could not escape the act of nature. That's one of the ways how we can see God's power.
